It officially became Marvel Comics in 1961 and rose to prominence under the leadership of editor-in-chief Stan Lee, who co-created iconic characters like the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, the Avengers, and the X-Men. Today, it is a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, known for its vast superhero universe.
