Markus Zusak

Markus Zusak is an Australian-German author born in Sydney, Australia, in 1975 to immigrant German and Austrian parents who inspired his writing with their World War II stories. He began his career with young adult novels like The Underdog (1999) and gained international acclaim with The Messenger (2002) and The Book Thief (2005), the latter becoming a massive bestseller. Zusak has won numerous awards, including the Margaret Edwards Award in 2014, and continues to live in Sydney with his family.
