John Heartfield
John Heartfield was a German Dada artist and political satirist best known for his agitprop photomontages that critiqued fascism and Nazism, especially in the 1930s. Born Helmut Herzfeld, he adopted the anglicized name Heartfield as a protest against wartime anti‑British sentiment and became a pioneer of photomontage as a form of social commentary.
