Jan Kochanowski
Jan Kochanowski (1530–1584) was a major Polish Renaissance poet, playwright, and humanist who helped shape the Polish literary language. Writing in both Latin and Polish, he is best known for the elegiac cycle "Treny" ("Laments") and the tragedy "Odprawa posłów greckich" ("The Dismissal of the Greek Envoys").
