Gavin Mortimer
Gavin Nicholas Mortimer is a British writer, historian, and television consultant specializing in Allied special forces during World War II, having authored over thirty non-fiction books including the critically acclaimed 2022 biography of SAS founder David Stirling, The Phoney Major.[1][2][7] A native Londoner, he began his career freelancing for publications such as the London Evening Standard, Observer, and Guardian, and has interviewed more than 150 wartime veterans from units like the SAS, SBS, and LRDG.[2][4]
