Great Battles of the British Army: As Commemorated in the Sandhurst Companies

For 250 years the military college of this country - first at Woolwich, now the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst - has educated and trained the soldiering elite of this and other countries. The houses at Sandhurst - called "companies" - are named after famous British Battles and these actions are described in this major work by some outstanding military veterans and top historians. The 16 battles include Blenheim, Waterloo, Somme, Ypres, Alamein, Salerno, Normandy and Arnhem. The authors include Lord Carver, General Sir John Hackett, General Sir Anthony Farrar-Hockley and others including members of the Sandhurst War Studies Department. Artists whose work is included are David Shepherd, Frank Wootton and Terence Cuneo. Each battle is illustrated on a full-colour map.
