Life in Australia is rugged and fraught with danger, but Erin loves the sweeping landscape and the daily challenges. Then her mother dies of a fever, her father turns to rum, and Erin--at just 17--must keep her family together. More tragedy awaits, and Erin's life changes dramatically, especially after she meets the dashing and very wealthy adventurer Brett Wilde. From that point on, the story becomes a somewhat predictable bodice-ripper with the requisite steamy sex, tears, and misunderstood motives leading to the inevitable happy ending. Despite the predictability, however, Tanner works the formula effectively, providing satisfying adventure along with the romance.
