I can’t say enough about this book. I loved it. LOVED it. I loved Saeris. She wasn’t whiney or overly tough. She wasn’t the “I’m not like other girls” type. She was flawed in a way that made her relatable. She was kickass when she needed to be and wasn’t automatically a great warrior because the book needed her to be. She saved them all in a way that had me rooting for her. Kingfisher is our new shadow daddy. I loved everything about him. He was the perfect amount of a-hole and lovely. He was perfectly broken. I am a gigantic sucker for fated mates. Especially when one knows about it already. The side characters were wonderful and actually helped move the story forward and Carrion was hilarious. Wonderful comedic relief. I was glad to see him continue with the story. Loved him the moment he was introduced. I loved the twists. I loved that it was great world building without being overkill. The spice was soooo good. I’ve literally quoted that one quote about meeting the gods 😉 more times than I want to admit. Like literally everyone I’ve talked to the last few days, regardless if they read romantasy-they heard about that quote and this book. I read the last 100 pages so slow not wanting the story to end. It wrapped up perfectly leaving space for a second book. I am so excited for book 2. Side note-I listened to the audio book while I read the paperback and the audio was AMAZING. The voice of Kingfisher is the same VA that voiced our other book boyfriend Rhysand in the graphic audio of the ACOTAR series. Anthony Palmini was the perfect voice for Kingfisher and does no wrong imo. The voice of Saeris was done by Stella Bloom and she was great. Not too whiney or monotone. They were both able to disguise their voices enough for the other female and male characters that it felt like it was done with a full cast and minus the sound effects, similar to a graphic audio. Anyway-it exceeded the hype and I love it to the moon and back! Read more
