Zhao Ban

Ban Zhao (45 or 49 – c. 117/120 CE) was a Chinese historian, philosopher, and scholar of the Eastern Han dynasty, renowned as the first known female Chinese historian. She completed her brother Ban Gu's unfinished *Book of Han* (*Hanshu*), the official dynastic history of the Western Han, at the emperor's commission, and authored *Lessons for Women*, an influential Confucian guide on women's conduct.[1][2][3]
