Zainul Abedin

Zainul Abedin was a Bangladeshi painter and a pioneer of modern art in Bangladesh, best known for his powerful series depicting the Bengali famine of 1943. He founded the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka and is celebrated as a national icon of artistic excellence.
