Yukio Mishima

Yukio Mishima (born Kimitake Hiraoka) was a highly influential Japanese novelist, playwright, and essayist known for his stylistically rich works and themes of identity, beauty, sexuality, and the conflict between tradition and modernity. He became one of Japan’s most celebrated writers, with major works including "Confessions of a Mask" and "The Sea of Fertility," and he also became known for his right-wing political activism and dramatic ritual suicide in 1970.
