Yorkshire Archaeological Society

The Yorkshire Archaeological and Historical Society is a learned society founded in 1863 in Huddersfield, England, initially focused on local archaeology before expanding to cover the entire county of Yorkshire. It promotes the study, preservation, and illustration of Yorkshire's history, architecture, antiquities, manners, customs, arts, and traditions through collecting materials, publishing journals like the Yorkshire Archaeological Journal (started 1869), arranging lectures, and offering grants. A Family History Section was established in 1973 to support genealogical research in the region.
