World Health Organization
The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations established in 1948 to direct and coordinate international health efforts. Founded following World War II with the goal of attaining the highest possible level of health for all people, WHO incorporated the functions and assets of predecessor organizations including the League of Nations Health Organization and the Office International d'Hygiène Publique. As a United Nations agency, WHO connects nations, partners and people to promote health, prevent disease, and respond to global health emergencies across 150+ locations in 6 regions.
