Winfield Scott 1839-1911 Schley
Winfield Scott Schley (1839–1911) was a distinguished Rear Admiral in the United States Navy, renowned for commanding the U.S. naval forces during the Battle of Santiago de Cuba in the Spanish-American War. Born near Frederick, Maryland, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1860 and later co-authored 'The Rescue of Greely,' contributing to naval literature and historical accounts.
