William R Merrifield

William R. Merrifield was an American linguist and anthropologist known for his extensive work on the Zapotec languages of Mexico, particularly as a missionary-linguist with SIL International. He authored numerous linguistic descriptions and contributed to the study of Mesoamerican languages. His career spanned several decades, during which he also taught and mentored students in field linguistics.
