William Howitt
William Howitt (1792–1879) was an English author, historian, and traveler born in Heanor, Derbyshire, into a Quaker family. He gained recognition for his writings on rural life and Victorian society, later becoming involved in Spiritualism after personal tragedies and financial setbacks.
