William Dugdale
Sir William Dugdale (1605–1686) was an English antiquary, herald, and genealogist preeminent among medievalist scholars of his time, renowned for his accurate scholarship on genealogy, charters, and county histories.[1][3] He authored key works including *Monasticon Anglicanum* (1655–73), *Antiquities of Warwickshire* (1656), and *The Baronage of England* (1675–76), and served as Garter Principal King of Arms from 1677 until his death.[1][3] Knighted in 1677, he was a central figure in antiquarian circles and influenced the development of medieval history studies.[3][8]
