William Clarke

William Clarke (1800–1838) was a British writer known for his humorous periodical 'The Cigar' and works of light literature such as 'The Boys' Own Book' and 'Three Courses and a Dessert'. He also contributed to the 'Monthly Magazine' and spent his final years working on an elaborate natural history text before dying of an apoplectic fit in Hampstead.
