Wendell Phillips
Wendell Phillips (1811–1884) was a prominent American abolitionist, orator, and social reformer known as 'abolition's golden trumpet' for his eloquent speeches that advanced the antislavery cause. A wealthy Harvard Law graduate, he abandoned his legal career to join William Lloyd Garrison, lecturing, writing for The Liberator, and leading the American Anti-Slavery Society after the Civil War. He also advocated for women's rights, temperance, Native American rights, labor reform, and universal suffrage until his death.
