Welcome Mandla Lishivha

Welcome Mandla Lishivha is a South African freelance journalist, author, and PhD candidate in Jurisprudence at the University of Pretoria, researching the life and trials of anti-apartheid and gay activist Simon Nkoli. He holds a Master's in Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes University and a BA Honours in Media and Anthropology from the University of the Witwatersrand. His memoir *Boy on the Run* was shortlisted for the 2023 UJ Debut Prize, and his ethnographic work *Site Visits* was shortlisted for the Gerald Kraak Anthology; his writing has appeared in Reuters, GQ, Daily Maverick, Mail & Guardian, and others.
