Wangari Maathai

Wangari Maathai was a Kenyan environmental and political activist, and the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize (2004) for her contribution to sustainable development, democracy, and peace. She founded the Green Belt Movement, an environmental organization focused on tree planting, conservation, and women's rights. She authored several books, including 'Unbowed: A Memoir' and 'The Challenge for Africa'.
