Walter Pater
Walter Horatio Pater (1839–1894) was an English essayist, critic, and fiction writer, renowned for his elegant prose and influence on the Aestheticism movement. His seminal work, *Studies in the History of the Renaissance* (1873), advocated 'art for art’s sake' and emphasized intense sensory experience and beauty.[1][2] Educated at Oxford, Pater's writings bridged Victorian realism and modernism, focusing on classical philosophy, the Italian Renaissance, and personal ecstasy.[3][5]
