Walidah Imarisha
Walidah Imarisha is an American writer, educator, activist, public scholar, and spoken word artist known for her work on social justice, prison abolition, and visionary fiction.[1][2] She has co-edited the anthologies *Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction Stories From Social Justice Movements* and *Another World is Possible*, authored the poetry collection *Scars/Stars* and the nonfiction book *Angels with Dirty Faces: Three Stories of Crime, Prison, and Redemption* which won a 2017 Oregon Book Award, and received a 2015 Tiptree Fellowship.[1][2] Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor in the Black Studies Department and Director of the Center for Black Studies at Portland State University.[1][4]
