W. T. Reid

William Thomas Reid was an American mathematician born near Grand Saline, Texas, who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1929 and served as a National Research Fellow at the University of Chicago before joining its faculty in 1931. He later held a professorship at Northwestern University from 1944 to 1959 and chaired the mathematics department at the University of Iowa starting in 1959, authoring over 100 articles in his field.[3][5]
