Violet Lemay

Violet Lemay is an award-winning author and illustrator of children's books, having illustrated nearly 50 titles including 8 she also wrote, with clients such as HarperCollins, Random House, and Scholastic.[1][2] Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, she worked as a costume and set designer in New York City before pursuing illustration training and building a career spanning over twenty years, during which she has lived in China, Malaysia, and New Zealand.[1][6] Her recent picture book 'Alithia Ramirez Was an Artist' won nine awards, including Reading the West's Best Picture Book and the Hoffer Grand Prize.[1][2]
