Vasco Da Gama

Vasco da Gama (c. 1460–1524) was a Portuguese navigator and explorer best known as the first European to sail directly to India by rounding the Cape of Good Hope. His voyages opened a sea route from western Europe to Asia and helped establish Portugal as a major maritime power.
