Valorie Schaefer

Valorie Lee Schaefer is an author best known for writing The Care & Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls, a New York Times bestseller published in 1998 by American Girl. She previously worked for American Girl magazine, where she observed that girls had many questions about puberty they were hesitant to ask their parents, which inspired her to write the educational book. She is currently based in St. Louis and is the mother of two adult daughters.
