Uli Sigg

Uli Sigg is a Swiss entrepreneur, diplomat, and art collector born in 1946 who became one of the world's leading patrons of contemporary Chinese art. He first went to China in 1979 as a businessman for the Schindler Group, establishing one of the first joint ventures between China and the West, and later served as Swiss Ambassador to China, Mongolia, and North Korea from 1995-1999. He assembled the world's most substantial collection of contemporary Chinese art comprising 2,500 works, of which he donated 1,450 pieces to M+ Museum for Visual Arts in Hong Kong in 2012.
