Edward Rolf Tufte is a professor emeritus of statistics, graphic design, and political economy at Yale University, renowned for his pioneering work in data visualization and information design. He authored influential books such as *The Visual Display of Quantitative Information*, *Envisioning Information*, and *Beautiful Evidence*, and founded Graphics Press in 1983.
