Toyin Falola

Toyin Omoyeni Falola is a Nigerian historian and professor of African Studies, holding the Jacob and Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and is renowned for his extensive scholarship on African history since the 19th century, with over 100 books authored or edited on topics including diaspora, migration, empire, intellectual history, and religion. A Fellow of the Historical Society of Nigeria and the Nigerian Academy of Letters, he has received numerous awards, including 28 honorary doctorates and the Distinguished Africanist Award from the African Studies Association.
