Tonya Bolden
Tonya K. Bolden (born March 1, 1959) is an award-winning American author, editor, and publisher best known for her children's nonfiction books on Black American history and figures. A Princeton and Columbia University graduate, she has authored, co-authored, or edited over 40 books, including Coretta Scott King Honor book *Maritcha: A Nineteenth-Century American Girl* and Orbis Pictus Award winner *M.L.K.: Journey of a King*. Born in New York City, she began her writing career in the 1990s after working in sales and has taught at universities while focusing on underrepresented stories.
