Timothy Basil Ering (Author, Illustrator)
Timothy Basil Ering is an American author, illustrator, and artist raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, by a French mother and Lithuanian father, who studied at the Art Center College of Design in California before serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, traveling to Hawaii, Japan, Australia, Sri Lanka, and Africa.[1][2][8] He gained acclaim illustrating Kate DiCamillo's Newbery Medal-winning *The Tale of Despereaux* and authoring books like *The Story of Frog Belly Rat Bone* and *Necks Out for Adventure*, with his adventurous life at sea inspiring his sea-themed works exhibited in galleries and used in video games.[1][2][4] Ering continues creating children's books, fine art of seascapes and fish, and delivering presentations across the U.S., Canada, and Southeast Asia from his Massachusetts studio.[1][3][6]
