Thomas Turino

Thomas Turino is an American ethnomusicologist and professor of musicology and anthropology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, known for his influential work on the relationship between music, nationalism, and social identity. He authored the widely cited book 'Music as Social Life: The Politics of Participation' and conducted extensive field research in Zimbabwe, publishing 'Nationalists, Cosmopolitans, and Popular Music in Zimbabwe'.
