Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826) was a Founding Father and the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, which articulated fundamental human rights and America's philosophy of government. He served as the third president of the United States from 1801 to 1809, and was a leading proponent of democracy, republicanism, natural rights, religious freedom, and free public education.
