Thomas Cahill was an American scholar and writer best known for the seven-volume *Hinges of History* series, which explores formative moments in Western civilization. He wrote best-selling history books including *How the Irish Saved Civilization* and *The Gifts of the Jews*, and died in 2022.[1][2][7]
