Thomas Allibone Janvier

Thomas Allibone Janvier (1849–1913) was an American story-writer, historian, and journalist born in Philadelphia of Provençal descent. He gained fame for fictionalized accounts of 19th-century New York City life, published under pseudonyms like Ivory Black, and for nonfiction works on New York history, Mexico, and other subjects including travel guides and historical biographies. After early journalism in Philadelphia and New York, he traveled extensively in Mexico and Spain, influencing books like The Mexican Guide (1886) and In Old New York (1894).[1][2][3]
