Thom Gunn
Thom Gunn (1929–2004) was an English poet known for his precise, elegant verse and for work that evolved from formal early poems into freer, more personal writing in America. Born in Gravesend, Kent, he studied at Cambridge, moved to San Francisco in 1954, and later wrote influential collections on themes including movement, homosexuality, drugs, and the AIDS crisis.
