Theresa Tomlinson
Theresa Tomlinson is an English author of historical fiction for children and young adults, often set in Yorkshire and drawing on local history and folklore, with assertive female protagonists. Born in 1946 in Crawley, Sussex, she trained at Hull College of Education, taught primary school for five years, then became a full-time writer after publishing her first book in 1987. She has lived in various Yorkshire locations including Sheffield and now Whitby, and has been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal twice.
