Theresa Rakowska-harmstone

Teresa Jadwiga Rakowska-Harmstone (1927–2017) was a Polish-Canadian political scientist renowned for her expertise in Eastern European politics, Soviet studies, and post-Soviet studies. Born in Poland, she immigrated to Canada as a child when her father became Polish consul in Montreal, later serving as a representative of the Polish government in exile. She was a professor at Carleton University from 1966, helping establish the Institute of Soviet and East European Studies, and also taught at Collegium Civitas, authoring the influential textbook *Communism in Eastern Europe* (1979).[1][2]
