The Bipolar Composer

Robert Schumann was a German composer, pianist, and music critic of the early Romantic era, born in Zwickau in 1810. He is widely associated with bipolar disorder, which is often cited as influencing the intensity and productivity of his creative work. He died in 1856 after spending his final years in a sanatorium.
