Sylvère Lotringer
Sylvère Lotringer (1938–2021) was a French literary critic, cultural theorist, editor, and professor best known as the founding editor of Semiotext(e). He played a major role in introducing French poststructuralist and contemporary theory to American audiences and was closely associated with Jean Baudrillard, Paul Virilio, and other avant-garde thinkers. He taught at Columbia University and the European Graduate School and lived much of his later life in New York and Baja California.
