Sven Drühl

Sven Drühl is a German contemporary artist and art scholar born in 1968 in Nassau, Germany, who studied art and mathematics at the University of Essen and earned a PhD in art history in 2005. He is internationally renowned for his conceptual landscape paintings that remix and transform motifs from Romanticism to contemporary art, challenging notions of originality, authenticity, and authorship through appropriation art, large-scale polyptychs, neon works, and bronze sculptures. Based in Berlin, Drühl explores themes of cultural transfer, seriality, and dystopian visions of nature in his oeuvre.
