Sterling North
Thomas Sterling North (1906–1974) was an American author best known for his children's book Rascal, a 1963 bestseller recounting his childhood adventures with a pet raccoon. Born in a farmhouse near Lake Koshkonong in Edgerton, Wisconsin, he graduated from the University of Chicago and built a career in journalism with newspapers like the Chicago Daily News and New York Post, while publishing over 30 books including novels, poetry, and children's literature. North's works often drew from his rural Wisconsin upbringing, with Rascal selling millions and inspiring a Disney film.
