Stephen Elkins
Stephen Benton Elkins was an American industrialist, lawyer, and Republican politician who served as a territorial delegate from New Mexico, U.S. Secretary of War under President Benjamin Harrison, and later a U.S. senator from West Virginia. He was born near New Lexington, Ohio, and became a prominent figure in late 19th-century American politics and business.
