Stanley Burroughs

Stanley A. Burroughs (1903-1991) was an American naturopath and promoter of pseudomedicine, best known for inventing the Master Cleanse or 'lemonade' diet, detailed in his book The Master Cleanser. He also authored Healing for the Age of Enlightenment (1976), advocating pressure points, chromotherapy, and dietary theories, while practicing deep reflexology and colored light therapy. Throughout his career, he faced legal troubles, including convictions for practicing medicine without a license and a second-degree murder charge (later overturned) related to a patient's death.
