Smith Henderson

Smith Henderson is an American novelist known for his debut novel *Fourth of July Creek* (2014), a *New York Times* Notable Book, winner of the 2015 John Creasy (New Blood) Dagger Award, and the 2014 Montana Book Award, as well as *Make Them Cry* (2020, co-authored with Jon Marc Smith).[1][2][3] His short stories have appeared in *Best American Short Stories*, *Tin House*, *American Short Fiction*, *One Story*, and *Witness*, and he has received awards including the 2011 PEN Emerging Writers Award.[2][3] Born and raised in Montana, he holds a BA from the University of Montana and an MFA from the Michener Center for Writers, and currently lives in Los Angeles.[2][3]
