Sir Baker, Samuel White

Sir Samuel White Baker was a British explorer, naturalist, and prolific travel writer, best known for his expeditions to the Nile and his discovery of Lake Albert in 1864. He also served as a big-game hunter, engineer, and abolitionist, and his books vividly documented his adventures in Africa and Asia. His works remain important accounts of 19th-century exploration.
