Simon Merrifield

Simon Merrifield is a senior Australian career diplomat with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, who served as Australia's first resident Ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta, Indonesia, starting in September 2013.[3][5] Prior to this role, he held the position of DFAT Senior Spokesman until June 2013 and had spent 13 years living in Southeast Asia.[3][6] He was later succeeded as Ambassador to ASEAN, with appreciation noted for his contributions to advancing Australia's engagement.[4]
