Simm Taback (Illustrator)
Simms Taback was an American writer, graphic artist, and illustrator of over 35 children's books, best known for winning the 2000 Caldecott Medal for Joseph Had a Little Overcoat and a 1998 Caldecott Honor for There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. Born in the Bronx, New York, he graduated from Cooper Union in 1953, worked as a graphic designer and art director, co-founded Push-Pin Studios, and taught at the School of Visual Arts and Syracuse University.
