Siegfried Kracauer

Siegfried Kracauer was a German-born writer, journalist and cultural critic known for his influential work in film theory and sociology. He is best remembered for his books 'From Caligari to Hitler' and 'Theory of Film', which analyze cinema's relationship to society and human psychology. After fleeing Germany in 1933, he lived in France and later the United States, where he wrote until his death in 1966.
